Dr. Lehmann Answers Frequent Questions

How often should a person who does not have chronic pain visit the Chiropractic Center?

Personally, I have been receiving chiropractic care at least once a month since I was 15.  Research shows that monthly chiropractic care limits degenerative processes and maintains a healthy immune system as well as providing other somatic results.  There are some chronic pain sufferers that can’t last 2 to 3 weeks without care.  When we talk about your health, you are a consumer.  You can either take allopathic medications and pills to cover up a problem or you can attack the cause of the symptoms with chiropractic adjustment.

Does insurance cover my visit?

Most insurance plans cover chiropractic in some forms. Certain employers will place limits on the care, the cost, or treat chiropractors as specialists. Our insurance manager will more than be happy to help you determine what your insurance will and will not cover.

Do you recommend braces for patients?

Yes, though our first aim is always to ease your pain without the use of an artificial support device. No one enjoys wearing a brace, but some injuries or pain sources are much more quickly alleviated with support devices. I don’t recommend a brace for every patient and every condition.

Do you offer nutritional supplements and herbs?

Yes. Many patients will benefit from including supplements and herbs in their diet. At Lehmann Chiropractic Center, we offer a complete, science-based solution to a patient’s pain and consider a variety of safe healing methods.  The formulas within each bottle of dietary supplement or herbal remedy that we recommend come from only the best labs and companies.  I was very pleased when I started to compare the products I offer with those of store bought vitamins and the difference is startling.  Sometimes you do get what you pay for.

Do you treat children?

Yes!  Most of the kids we see here are seeking relief for conditions that are often common in kids.  Chiropractic has been found to be 96% effective in treating infantile cholic. Ear infections are also effectively treated by chiropractic. Scoliosis, certain types of asthma, bed-wetting, and postural alterations from falls or everyday activities are treated with success by chiropractic care..

Can pregnant women safely receive chiropractic care?

They certainly can. In fact, chiropractic is so safe that it’s one of the few treatments pregnant woman can opt for and not worry about side effects. We’re usually treating 2 or 3 pregnant women at any given time.  My office has specialized tables that drop down giving room for a pregnant woman’s belly allowing her to lay face down.

Do you order x-rays or can you do MRIs?

We have the ability to take x-rays in our office, but I do not x-ray every patient unless it is necessary for diagnosis and proper treatment.  There are several hospitals and outpatient imaging facilities that allow my office to refer for CT or bone scans, blood work, MRIs, and diagnostic ultrasounds.

How long will my visit take?

The initial visit at our office is usually 90 minutes to 2 hours. A single adjustment will probably not decrease the inflammatory phase that many people are experiencing at the time of their first visit. But the good news is that follow-up treatments usually take only 10 to 25 minutes.

Does it work best to get a chiropractic adjustment before or after my massage?

Our clinic’s massage therapist, Lou Ann Brandeberry, LMT, answers this one: “Our experience has been that if a patient receives a 1 hour massage followed by skilled chiropractic care, the improvement experienced by the patient is significant, in comparison to patients who get adjustments on different days or ask for a massage after chiropractic care. Those patients feel improvement but their pain management may not quite meet their expectations.”
