Yesterday and Today

Dr. Leonard Lehmann, who practiced for over fifty years, started our practice in 1946. “Dr. Leonard” was the 1974 and 1975 Ohio State Chiropractor of the Year, and also served for many years as the Treasurer of the Ohio State Applied Kinesiology Association.
Since 1952, our practice has been located on West Tiffin Street in Fostoria.

Dr. Steven D. Lehmann graduated from the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, where he received the Clinical Achievement Award as the most outstanding intern of his class. “Dr. Steven” returned to his hometown and joined his father’s practice in 1989. In 1990, Dr Leonard decided he was ready for semi-retirement and proudly handed the reigns to Dr. Steven. At the age of 75, Dr. Leonard finally fully retired following 50 years of chiropractic practice.

His first patient as a licensed physician came to Dr. Steven at a local high school football game. An injured player left the game after a first quarter injury, and soon couldn’t walk, suffering from severe pain. Before half time, Dr. Lehmann was summoned to help. He adjusted the player during the intermission, and the player returned to the team’s sidelines. Soon, the student-athlete was back on the field, where he finished the game with his teammates. The team went on to play in the state championship game that season.
Since that first emergency adjustment, Dr. Steven, after a year of post-graduate studies, became one of the first 500 chiropractors worldwide to be a board eligible or certified Chiropractic Sports Physician. He was also one of the first chiropractors to complete a 300-hour post-doctorate Chiropractic Rehabilitation Specialist program.

A member of the American Chiropractic Association for over 25 years, as well as the Ohio State Chiropractic Association, Dr. Steven is a past District Director for the state organization and served on the board of directors. He is also a past Distinguished President of the local chapter of Kiwanis International and an active member.

Since 2001, Lehmann Chiropractic Center has included a Licensed Massage Therapist. Dr. Lehmann employs up-to-date rehabilitation and physio-therapeutics to ensure your speedy recovery.

Today, the practice works closely with local medical physicians and commonly receives referrals from family doctors and specialists throughout Northwest Ohio.
